OPPORTUNITY
Green Dot is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Operations and Finance Manager to assume responsibility for overseeing operations, continuous improvement projects, budgeting, and forecasting for a portfolio of schools in the Los Angeles area. This critical role requires an individual who can effectively solve complex problems, taking full ownership of operational challenges to enable principals and teachers to concentrate on providing quality education to students. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving system improvements, going beyond addressing immediate issues to proactively identify opportunities for operational efficiency and enhanced effectiveness of our school services. The position demands a fast-paced, hands-on approach, necessitating exceptional analytical and communication abilities. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
> Oversee and support operational and fiscal functions for a portfolio of 4 to 6 schools, serving as the main lead in assisting administrators in large scale projects
> Assist the Area Superintendent and Principal by aiding in daily non-academic tasks such as student enrollment, school meal programs, facility maintenance, security, IT, and financial planning and management. The Area Operations and Finance Manager offers this assistance by guiding the school-based team and collaborating with the Home Office to further support schools
> Work closely with principals to effectively manage school budgets, conduct thorough financial analysis, and update year-end forecasts monthly; provide direct mentorship to School Operations Managers to enhance their development as leaders in school site operations, focusing on specific areas such as Team Management, School Nutrition Program, Facilities, Budget & Payroll, Purchasing & Resource Management, Student Information & Reporting, Student Recruitment, Enrollment & Lottery, Student Health, Safety & Security, Event Planning & Coordination, and Federal & State Compliance
> Serve as the primary liaison between the school and home office departments to ensure the use of best practices in school operations and budget management
> Create and provide professional development opportunities to develop school operations staff, enhance operational efficiency, and simplify processes
> Lead continuous improvement efforts in school operations and share successful strategies with peers
> Work alongside the Finance team to develop school budgets, provide financial and budgetary guidance to maximize funding and ensure strategic use of restricted funds
> Collaborate with the Home Office Operations team to ensure that network-wide operational goals are achieved and support schools in establishing the frameworks and processes to achieve district goals
This job operates in a professional office environment, is largely sedentary, and utilizes typical office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.). Normal business hours are 8:30am - 5:30pm, Monday-Friday (although these hours may vary and may require occasional evening and weekend work based on organizational needs). Local travel to school sites required regularly.
QUALIFICATIONS
As an ideal candidate, you
> have a bachelor's degree (required); MBA preferred
> have 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced, highly analytical professional environment (2-3 years managing school operations with charter school experience highly preferred)
> have 2+ years of experience managing others in a professional environment
> have strong financial acumen
> have experience designing and facilitating differentiated professional development sessions
> are able to build collaborative, coordinated, and supportive relationships
> are able to impact and influence stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization
> can demonstrate flexibility and innovation when faced with ambiguity
> can demonstrate creative problem-solving skills
> are tenacious and with a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve our mission
> are dependable, have a sense of humor and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot's mission > and the communities we serve
> will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
> will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (submission of proof of vaccination will be required)

COMPENSATION
The starting salary range for this position is $90,000 - $102,000, based on education and experience. In addition, if hired by June 30, 2024, this position qualifies for a one-time $2,500 signing bonus, paid in two installments after months 6 and 12 of employment (subject to change).
