Job description

Under direction of the Procurement & Services Officer II, the Business Service Officer I is responsible for supervision of the following Business Service functions: purchasing, service contracts and property management. Functions as the institution contract liaison. Directly supervise 3 employees (1 Business Service Assistant, 1 Property Controller II and 1 Office Technician Typing).
Supervise assigned staff. Provide training to and monitor staff performance. Provide training to all buyers and contract managers. Prepare employee evaluations, job standards, set expectations and participate in the hiring process. Maintain and update various desk procedure manuals. Ensure staff are scheduled and attend mandatory training in person and via Learning Management System (LMS). Ensure new staff have proper onboarding upon start date, to include; submitting key/chit request, computer request and various system accesses.

HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. Until 1987, CIW was California's only prison for female felons. It was originally called "Frontera," a feminine derivative of the word frontier - a new beginning. The campus-like design was in keeping with the 1950's progressive notion of rehabilitation.
The primary mission of the California Institution for Women is to provide a safe and secure environment for primarily Level I/III female offenders. This mission is further defined by our responsibility to provide quality health care and institution programs specifically geared to meet the special needs of female offenders. Specialized programs include academic and vocational programs, pre-release and substance abuse programming, pre-forestry and camp training, an arts in corrections program and a wide variety of inmate self-help groups and community betterment projects.
Founded in 1885, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is one of the nation's largest and most diverse correctional departments in the country. We are dedicated to enhancing public safety through the safe and secure incarceration of offenders, by providing effective parole supervision, and implementing rehabilitative strategies to successfully reintegrate offenders into our communities.

**Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
