Business Operations at Valon
The Business Operations Department streamlines the day-to-day management and strategic planning of the business, operations, and finances. They work closely with cross-functional teams like Product, Engineering, and the Servicing teams to drive efficiency and scale our business. As a member of this team, you will use your analytical skills to drive operational excellence across our business and fulfill Valon's mission of creating a great user experience for homeowners.
About the Role
Responsibilities
- Take 0 to 1 ownership of a new business area within the Insurance vertical: carrier partnerships and building our agent of record business
- Leverage in-depth knowledge of our homeowner base to make strategic decisions regarding insurance partnerships
- Engage with and pitch to players within the insurance space, including carriers, brokers, etc.
- Research business and compliance requirements for new processes and product offerings within a highly regulated industry
- Partner cross-functionally to design and run marketing experiments and test homeowner incentives
- Build operational processes for your Product Area's operations team in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Legal and Compliance
- Ensure that processes scale gracefully as the company scales
- Drive process and product maturity to continuously improve operational efficiency and excellence as well as the homeowner experience
Ideal Background
- 5+ years experience working in product management, strategic operations, or Business Operations roles, preferably at a start-up
- Ability to operate independently and truly own business results for their area
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive complex projects to completion
- Strong project management skills with an ability to prioritize, communicate progress, and deliver results across multiple workstreams
- Extremely self-motivated and results-oriented — is organized, proactive in finding solutions, and has a strong drive to complete projects
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization
- High sense of urgency and bias for action
- Excel and Google Sheets skills required
