Overview:
HSS, the world leader in musculoskeletal health, is seeking a manager for an exciting opportunity to work closely with the leadership teams responsible for ambulatory care and get exposure to various departments across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Business Operations Manager will be responsible for a portfolio closely aligned to HSS’ strategic operational priorities. This role will be responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement, gathering and analyzing data, developing recommendations, initiating and implementing workplans, and measuring success. The Business Operations Manager will also support the development of strategic communications (presentations, policies, procedures, education, training materials) for the leadership team to deliver to internal audiences at all levels throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities for improvement and initiates workplans; leveraging routine operational reports, patient satisfaction surveys, physician experience surveys, and employee engagement surveys
- Develop and standardize policies and procedures, job descriptions, facility website content, org charts, and other tools necessary to sustain consistency and reduce variability across ambulatory facilities
- Prepare content and communication materials for the purposes of change management and status updates to leadership, management, and staff
- Perform routine and ad hoc analysis to determine appropriate staffing levels; developing justifications for new positions when necessary and supporting leadership in annual budget process and Institutional Strategic Financial Plan formulation
- Ensure new processes are implemented properly and yield results
- Support leadership in business planning for new programs and service expansion
- Participate on project teams in lead or support roles, identifying and improving operational processes impacting ambulatory clinical and administrative operations
- Capture, organize, and translate information discussed during meetings into clear and concise action items; following up with stakeholders as needed to ensure project deadlines are met
- Assist with ongoing data validation, diagnosing problems and determining whether to resolve or escalate to department leaders for prioritization
- Collaborate with departmental leadership to monitor and ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines that help achieve our key quality and performance indicators
- Project manage select initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic priorities within the ambulatory care portfolio
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in management or health care
- At least two (2) years of experience in strategy or management consulting, preferably in a health care environment
- Completion of a postgraduate administrative fellowship program preferred
- Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with propensity for critical thinking
- Experience and comfort in preparing executive level presentations and enterprise-wide communications
- Demonstrated track record of success collaborating with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and willingness to proactively seek guidance when appropriate
- Self-motivated and eager with an entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of humor
