Job Description
Please include a resume and cover letter with your application.
Our EnviroIssues team is passionate about supporting communities in having a voice and opportunity to influence the issues affecting their everyday life. As a consulting firm, we work with a wide variety of clients, mainly in the public sector, on community engagement and outreach to bring people’s voices into a variety of projects – whether that is addressing wastewater discharge into Puget Sound, large infrastructure projects in Seattle, replacing a bridge in Portland, or helping communities plan how they grow. While our largest area of work is transportation and transit, we also work in water utilities, land use, natural resources, climate, cleanup, energy, and other sectors that impact people in our communities.
We believe Black Lives Matter and are committed to a journey toward being a human-centered and antiracist workplace. We have a long way to go to address our structural and institutional racism and come together as a community for mutual support and respect.
The role
As a consulting firm, EnviroIssues must seek out and win new projects regularly. We primarily work with public sector clients, offering services in community engagement and communications. We work with our clients to develop equitable public involvement processes and experiences to create more sustainable solutions to issues that impact communities every day. Our Business Development and Marketing Team helps us find and win new projects through networking and communicating effectively about who we are and the work we do. They work closely with external partners and staff across the organization to track upcoming work opportunities, develop and submit project proposals, and support our teams in winning and setting up these new projects.
We are looking for a Business Development and Marketing Intern to join our growing team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to learn about Business Development, marketing, and corporate communications. You will work closely with our team to improve our current processes and organizational systems, work with staff across the company to update their company resumes, develop client and partner information sheets, and gather key information to support our responses to competitive project bidding processes. Skills you will learn and practice over the internship include:
- Data management and database organization
- Research new project opportunities in sectors including transportation, natural resources, land use, and utilities
- Persuasive writing, especially in a marketing context
- Task and time management
- Team communication and collaboration
- Community engagement practices and techniques
Schedule and location
This internship will be between 30 and 40 hours a week primarily worked between Monday and Friday. We anticipate this internship starting in June and going through September but are flexible on an end date. We can offer flexibility on work location but anticipate the intern coming into our downtown Seattle office at least once a week to connect with the team and other EnviroIssues staff. The rest of the time may be worked remotely.
