Overall Purpose: The Business Development Engineer will create and sustain customer relationships, assist in developing and facilitating new business and new product development for specific customers, including technical proposal review and evaluation, and develop product marketing tools and guides.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop new and sustain existing business relationships with ongoing support through meetings, visits, and presentations of current and new Hydraflow projects
  • Review and evaluate feasibility of technical proposals
  • Manage product development and marketing projects (vendor management, timelines, and drafting reports)
  • Coordinate with internal departments including production control, quality, customer service, IT, production floor, and engineering as needed by project scope and type
  • Work with engineering and marketing departments to create product catalog tools and displays
  • Develop cost estimates for new product lines by working with engineering, purchasing, and production on planning and manufacturing processes
  • Assist in customer contract negotiations as a technical expert
  • Communicate the outcome of the negotiations/proposals to internal groups with a focus on conveying the established expectations for each group (e.g., clear details, critical timeframes, and expectations)
  • Establish and maintain on-going customer relationships with various engineering, quality, and procurement groups to anticipate and resolve potential problems
  • Identify, target and develop new business in Commercial and Defense aviation and high technology platforms by presenting Hydraflow’s portfolio of products and service
  • Travel domestically and internationally to present Hydraflow products and business operations to customers
  • Propose and explain Hydraflow product solutions to both highly technical and general audiences
  • Field technical questions ad hoc from customers and propose solutions
  • Support Sales & Marketing staff as needed
  • Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team
  • Adhere to 5S Standards
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, policies for attendance and punctuality and standards for safety

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline from an accredited college.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with an OEM in a technical role with direct customer interaction and/or business, sales, or product development
  • General knowledge of machining and processing of metals and aerospace materials
  • Knowledge of basics of 2D and 3D CADD, flow vs. pressure drop
  • Ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to make decisions aligning with the company’s objectives and strengths
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, including possessing a valid U.S. passport
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
  • Fluent in English (able to read, speak, write and understand)
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident)

  • Position will require travel for business purposes

Work Environment: Primarily office environment. Low to moderate noise level.

Must be a U.S. Person based on ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident). This position is expected to be exposed to information which is subject to U.S. export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
