We are a company built on growth, and our salespeople (Producers) are tasked with expanding their book of business every year. As this client list grows, there can come a point where the demands of growth, retention, and office leadership become too much to manage. We are looking for a Business Development Consultant for one of our People Solutions Producers to accelerate growth.
The goal for this position is to help the Producer work a process beyond what he can manage on his own. This will include helping find new prospects, coordinate in person events, manage follow up, complete proposals, and more. Because you and the Producer will be working so closely together, active communication is important as is the ability to give and receive feedback.

This person should have a minimum of 5 years of work experience (though there's no maximum). Sales and/or Employee Benefits skills are helpful but not necessary. They need to exhibit proficiency with Microsoft Office and LinkedIn along with an ability to quickly learn and use new systems. What's most important is that the candidate can demonstrate curiosity, take initiative, figure things out, and stay organized.
This is not a direct sales role but will have line of sight into the sales process and the opportunity to learn and grow and take a more active role over time. This is an exciting role for someone looking to craft their own future without the risk of a commission sales model. It won't be a fit for people who like formal structure or who aren't wired to find work to do when things get slow.
Essential Duties
- Support Producer's Business Development process in all phases.
- Provide ideas to improve the process and increase new business
- Use research and prospecting tools to create Business Development opportunities, including Salesforce, SalesLoft, LinkedIn, MiEdge, etc.
- Manage the prospecting process to include collecting, managing, and distributing prospect data to Producer and Associates
- Plan and attend social, educational, and networking events
- Respond to Requests For Proposal (RFP) and help build other presentations
- Identify and implement client cross-selling opportunities
- Co-lead Producer budget creation and management
- Act as an extension of the Producer he/she represents on a daily basis
Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience in a professional environment
- Demonstrated Project Management and Process Management ability
- Strong attention to detail
- Business development/sales experience preferred
- Excellent market research, analytical, communication, and presentation skills required
- Above average proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to quickly learn other technology platforms involved in the sales process (ex. Salesforce, SalesLoft, LinkedIn Navigator, MiEdge, etc.)
- Demonstrated critical thinking and a willingness to take initiative with the position
