SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Sanitation Manager, the Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for plant-wide conditions and presentation to be in accordance with Safe Quality Foods (SQF) and to help ensure the facility is audit-ready at all times. The Building Maintenance Technician is a key component of our overall business success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
1. Follow the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), uniform and dress code, and product safety requirements.
2. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, keeping work area clean and safe at all times.
3. Maintain a good attendance record and positive attitude.
4. Support company policies and be safety conscious at all times.
5. Report safety concerns and defective equipment to immediate supervisor or Team Leader.
6. Monitor use of all chemicals to proper measurements and notify the Sanitation Manager of excessive loss.
7. Safely and effectively use ladders, scissor lifts, and forklifts as needed.
8. Clean and assist with minor maintenance and housekeeping tasks, maintaining a clean building appearance at all times.
9. Perform general repairs that don’t require a specialized technician, such as painting and repairing other building fixtures.
10. Communicate effectively with all departmental and plant personnel.
11. Perform daily and weekly cleanup and sanitation, including the proper handling of cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals, with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
12. Work extended and flexible schedules as the needs of the business dictate.
13. Work in other areas as workload demands.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and one to three months related experience to become familiar with equipment and processes.
Language Skills
· Ability to read and write English.
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
· Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
· Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
· Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job:
· The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk and listen.
· The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine.
· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
