Department: Engineering/Maintenance

Position: General maintenance technician

Shift: Mon-Fri 7a-3:30pm or Tues-Sat 7a-3:30pm

Job Description:

This position is under the direct supervision of the Chief Engineer and is responsible for the general maintenance of UHS facilities to include painting, landscaping, janitorial, general handyman tasks, parking lot monitoring, security relief, and delivery of supplies to all UHS facilities.

Responsibilities:

Landscaping/Grounds

• Cares for established lawns and flower beds by weeding, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and retaining walls.
• Mows and edges lawns, using power mowers and edgers, as well as planting seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs.
• Decorates gardens with stones and plants. Waters interior and exterior gardens, monitors health of plants.
• Parking Lot Duties
• Manipulates vehicles to take advantage of all spaces
• Positions or removes barricades to prevent parking in certain spots.
• Uses hand signals to direct patrons into open spots
• Monitors parking lot for unauthorized parking.

Custodial Duties

• Follow and complete the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedule to include interior and exterior.
• Snow removal
• Works with the engineering/maintenance department to remove snow and ice from the premises and ensure a safe passage for patients and staff.
• Drives the truck with a plow and salt spreader when necessary.
• Monitors the conditions of the parking lot and sidewalks as necessary.

Painting/Drywall taping

• Paints surfaces in a neat professional manner
• Mixes and matches of paints to proper color using thinners.
• Prepares surfaces using, sandpaper, steel wool, and scraper.
• Prepares surfaces for painting/staining, stucco, drywall and wood.
• Uses proper filler to repair nail holes, cracks and joints.
• Ability to tape and finish small areas of drywall
• Dispose of hazardous material per OSHA.

Delivery Driving/Security relief

• Designated as company driver, delivering office, janitorial, maintenance and medical supplies as needed by departments and satellite locations.
• Drives employees to the bank and other locations as necessary.
• Relieves the Security Guard for breaks and covers the security desk for short periods as necessary.

General handyman duties

• Uses power tools

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or G.E.D certificate required.
• Valid state Driver's License required.
• No major motor vehicle violations in the past 5 years and he ability to be insured required.
• Strong customer service required.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs required.
• 1-2 years painting/drywall experience required.
• Knowledge of proper painting methods required.
• Ability to work any shift and long hours when necessary required.
• Proven experience as a handyman required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.50 per week

• Maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)
• Drywall: 1 year (Required)
• Painter: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:
