Repairs, tests and calibrates equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations and other established guidelines. Performs assigned
duties in accordance with current policies and procedures, including equipment inspection, minor repairs and planned maintenance, all
under the appropriate supervision. Assists with servicing various equipment and apparatus such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs,
blood-gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, blood-pressure transducers, sterilizers and other related technical
equipment. Communicates routinely with supervisory personnel on the status of equipment repair and maintenance activities along with
immediately reporting all patient equipment operator safety issues. Assists in the maintenance of a calibration program for electronic and
safety testing equipment used by the department. Maintains timely, accurate and thorough documentation required by management, as
outlined in current policies and procedures.
May assist in the evaluation of new equipment, accessories, and supplies. May assist with ordering of parts and supplies necessary for the
servicing of medical equipment.
Performs installations, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment. Consults with higher level authority for resolution of difficult issues.
Uses office automation hardware, software, and diagnostic service software appropriate to the equipment being served. Inspects incoming
equipment for compliance with codes, standards and manufacturer’s recommendations.
Conducts departmental rounds with customers to promote communication and learn operations. Demonstrates exceptional customer service
and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community. Provides input for service
delivery on equipment supported.
Conducts cross-training in the techniques of testing, calibrating, operating and troubleshooting biomedical systems for less experienced staff.
EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
1 - 3 years servicing medical equipment
