Billing Assistant

Come and join our dynamic team at Peak! We are seeking a full-time Billing Assistant to join our interdisciplinary clinic in Norman, OK. Come join our team as we provide a comprehensive and collaborative approach in helping children with autism and other disabilities. Our clinic includes Psychology, ABA, OT, and Speech services. The Position: 

• Obtain pertinent clinical information, demographic information, and verify insurance benefits
• Serve as the first line of contact for new referrals
• Conduct eligibility and benefit checks.
• Maintain referrals and receive and track information regarding changes in status
• Coordinate pre-authorization and ongoing authorization of benefits across disciplines
• Perform basic clerical duties and data entry
• Answer telephone and direct calls to the appropriate staff
• Process referrals
• Gather all documentation needed for authorization of services
• Communicate regularly with key referral sources to ensure proper service
• Coordinate with Billing Manager and providers about referrals and authorization status
• Assist the Billing Manager in billing and collection processes, credentialing providers, submitting claims, and managing denial of claims
• Assist client with any questions regarding initial appointments or referrals
• Maintain all clinical records in accordance with HIPAA 
• Maintain high quality of customer service in writing, by phone and in person
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professional manner
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced work environment
• Proficient in using electronic devices (computer, tablets) for extended amounts of time
  

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in business administration or management preferred 
• 2+ years of experience in a healthcare environment (Pediatric therapy preferred)
• Experience with private health insurance, including intake, benefits, and authorization
• Experience working in multi-site clinics is a plus
• Must have experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems (Central Reach experience is preferred)
