Job Summary:
As a Billing and Collections Specialist you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely payment and accurate billing. You will be responsible for engaging with clients in our regulated community to answer questions and follow up on payment. You will be an integral contributor to continuous improvement and quality assurance activities. This position will also assist the department with billing, updating customer contact info and other collection efforts. While dealing with our community, maintaining a respectful and empathetic tone is crucial. Effective communication skills are essential for successful collections.

Job Duties:
- Responsible for tracking and following up on collection status to ensure timely payment.
- Answer incoming calls and emails, and provide great service.
- Perform account reconciliations and updating aging reports.
- Dispute resolution - partner with internal finance team and program teams to resolve disputes.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions. Properly document phone calls, emails, and any new contact information.
- Billing and invoice entry as needed.
- Assist with mailings and other outreach tasks.
- Follow through to ensure completion of open items.
- Assist with weekly mail log and check deposits as needed.
- Research and update customer contact info for returned mail and invalid email addresses.
- Use both external and internal sources to find the most up to date information.
- Cross-train on other revenue functions as needed.
- Keep procedures and standard work updated as changes arise.
- Participate in process reviews and problem solving for driving continuous improvement.
- Assist the team as needed with other billing, revenue, or collections related tasks as needed.
- Update data for metrics and tracking.
- Follow established standard work and adhere to government accounting guidelines and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- Ability to enter data accurately and quickly.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience collaborating in teams and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) and/or Google Suite.
- Strong general PC skills, managing multiple screens, folder navigation, etc.
- Proficient in Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
Selective Preference(s):
- Prior experience in accounting or finance preferred.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles, methods of maintaining accounting records, and/or government accounting principles preferred.
