Position Summary:
Coordinates scheduling of OR suites with the surgeon, OR, anesthesia services, and ancillary services. This person is responsible for entering and updating data, as well as monitoring, verifying, confirming, and distributing final schedules. Validate EPIC with Lawson supplies within the Intra-OP Navigator for Main OR, CASC and DHC.

Medical Terminology Class (within the first year of employment)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year Healthcare experience. Ideal candidate will have previous OR experience or OR surgery scheduling.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Good knowledge of the surgical and operating room operations; working knowledge of CPT and ICD codes; good knowledge of medical/surgical terminology; good planning and organization skills; good problem solving skills; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work well under pressure; ability to work effectively with others.
Essential Functions:
- Determine the order in which the patients are gridded, by reviewing procedures, times needed, available surgeon time, and scheduled inpatients.
- Proactively identify potential problems with cases that are missing information and discrepancies in type of procedure, surgeon, and times.
- Prints final scheduler for anesthesia on a daily basis and distributes as appropriate.
- Adjusts operating room schedule and communicates any changes to surgeon's offices and others as appropriate.
- Validate, in EPIC, the supplies used from the OR record and Perioperative documents
- Office supply ordering, general clerical duties, assisting in other areas as needed.
