Position Overview:
Middle Earth, a leading community based organization in Somerset County, is currently seeking qualified individuals to provide one-on-one mentoring services to at-risk youth in school and in the community.
The Mentor Program serves 2nd-12th grade students in Bound Brook, Franklin, and Manville that are experiencing emotional, behavioral and/or academic issues in school. Youth are referred to the program by guidance counselors and teachers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and a high level of professionalism
- High ethical standards in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive subject matter
- Positive and affirming approach to working with diverse populations
- Bilingual in Spanish / English a plus
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a determined number of program participants and their families.
- Conduct initial interviews with referred youth and their families.
- Provide case management services.
- Assess and evaluate the performance of participating youth on a continual basis.
- Maintain individual client files with appropriate case notes and documentation.
- Act as a positive role model and provide support services such as mentoring, peer support, guidance, informal counseling, case management, information and referral, crisis intervention, life skills education, transportation, community service, and outreach to client and family, as necessary.
- Develop appropriate program plans with the individual program participant and assist in facilitating goal achievement and program plan completion for each participant.
- Maintain contact with participant and family on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Maintain contact with other involved agencies, schools, etc., as needed, and attend necessary meetings, when appropriate.
- Attend clinical supervision on a regular basis.
- Provide community service activities to program participants.
- Attend all trainings and meetings deemed necessary by the Coordinator.
- Submit appropriate reimbursement documentation to Coordinator for signature.
- Attend all program and agency staff meetings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
