Responsibilities:
- The BI Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing all aspects of Tableau deployment, including server management, application configuration, security controls, performance tuning and optimization, troubleshooting and support, and integration with various data sources.
- Collaborate with various teams to recommend and ensure the effective deployment and utilization of Tableau for business intelligence and data visualization purposes.
- In additional to Tableau, provide support of other BI platforms and analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI and SAS server.
Desired Outcomes
Lead and provide recommendations for creating and implementing Tableau platform governance and standards around data sources, transformations, and dashboards across multiple Tableau instances.
Organize and lead a Tableau user group to develop and share best practices.
Provide analysis and recommendations on BI products, solutions and deployment options.
Work with data architects, SMEs and Power Users in setting up environments that meet the needs of users.
Provide end user incident and support for Tableau, Power BI and other analytics tools. Provide User creation, User permissions and provisioning to BI and visualization platforms.
Provide mission critical production support of Tableau for all Department end users and where applicable, data for select external users and some public uses.
Organize, standardize, and manage published data sources to improve accessibility to creators and reduce redundancy,
Complete performance tuning and server management of Tableau server environment and evaluate and maximize server and data source optimization. Troubleshoot and optimize Tableau dashboards/workbooks and data refreshes.
Ensure required security controls for Tableau functionality in collaboration with IT Security and Compliance teams to ensure compliance to security and privacy policies while minimizing security risks and maximizing end user functionality.
Work with Tableau or other Tableau third-party expertise to implement, modify, or improve the Tableau implementation and Tableau architecture.
Provide change management for Tableau upgrade schedules, releases, and new features.
Manage Tableau server and user licensing and renewals.
Compensation is based in part to geographical region:
90k - 120k.
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of Tableau Server architecture and administration, including managing all sites, users, groups, and content on Tableau Server, installing and configuring Tableau Server, investigating and resolving Tableau serve issues and Managing Tableau backup and disaster recovery planning.
- Strong understanding of data visualization concepts and best practices
- Advanced ability of embedding Tableau with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and external websites.
- Advanced ability to integrate and troubleshoot database connectivity and other data sources.
- Intermediate ability to configure server authentication options and data access security (row level security).
- Intermediate ability to automate server monitoring and maintenance tasks.
Required Experience
5-8 Years of Tableau development, administration and deployment, including;Tableau scripting (TABCMD, TABADMIN, Python, REST API)
1-3 years of experience supporting Windows and Linux Servers
1-3 years of experience with various BI platforms, analytics tools, and deployment options (Hosted, On-Premise, SaaS)
1-3 years of experience with Microsoft Power BI a plus
