Overview :
The Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity manages and enhances the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which resides on one Oracle M8 Supercluster database and thirteen application servers. Our team provides the technical services required to sustain EDW applications to include Project Management, Data Warehouse Management, Advanced Analytics, Tableau Server Administration/Tableau Desktop Administration, Technical Collaboration Support, Lessons Learned, Executive Orders and Special Projects, Architectural Enhancement, and Cloud Migration. We also provide management, enhancement, integration, implementation, maintenance, modernization, and infrastructure support for EDW applications as well as enhancement and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities and predictive analytics.
- Large databased envt - The EDW system environment is comprised of three core elements, each of which are defined below.
- The EDW hardware (EDW-H) currently consists of one Oracle M8 Supercluster database and thirteen (13) application servers that are configured to operate on the Windows, Linux and UNIX platforms.
The EDW Database (EDW-D) and Tools consists of approximately 442 schemas (Transactional Snapshots and Star Schemas) and 85,029 tables which are updated on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as required to meet the business community’s requirements. The EDW-D environment also includes the tools leveraged to develop the reports such as Oracle Databases, GoldenGate, APEX, OBIEE, Tableau, Informatica, PowerBI, SAS, C#, .NET, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Management of the application's users, groups, and integration with Active Directory.
- Support the maintenance and minor enhancements of the BI Reporting Tools using Waterfall or Agile Methodologies, depending on the scope, complexity and requirements of the enhancement.
- Support the maintenance and production of BI Reporting Tools.
- Communicate status issues and changes to appropriate audience.
- Support and perform Analytics and Data Visualization techniques.
- Provide expert Tableau Architecture support.
- Provide expert Tableau Server implementation & administration support services for improving processes and best practices.
- Analyze data feeds to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with Government business and technical representatives.
- Manage simultaneous tasks, prioritize issues, and monitor and track progress.
- Provide support for Oracle or Tableau servers for connectivity and performance issues impacting Tableau Server extracts.
- Perform analysis of Tableau Server metadata when required to support server operations.

- Maintain and manage which Active Directory groups are able to authenticate in Tableau with Active Directory credentials.
- Automate monitoring & server job processes within timeframes defined by the COR and Technical PM.
- Troubleshoot and resolve user access, report failures, and system outage and degradation issues. All issues shall be reviewed and resolved or escalated according to the standard operating procedures that will be provided to the Contractor on award.
- Design a method to provide proper load balancing. Provide and execute a Load Balancing Implementation Plan. Conduct hourly monitoring of system performance, capacity, and user utilization rates.
- Maintain and provide a Tableau Weekly Activity Log (Microsoft Excel format) of all administration services and activities
Tableau Administrator has min of 7-10 years exp
