Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

 

Researches, analyzes, and remits monthly benefit billing for entire company. Evaluates billing process. Works in conjunction with the corporate accounting department to establish common goals, expectations and clear communication as it relates to billing practices.

 

Provides analytical and technical support regarding benefits. Supports team with data driven projects and analysis. Provides excellent customer service to the Human Resource team in the field.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Process, reconcile and remit monthly billing for all benefit vendors.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies, errors and premium adjustments due to data entry and incorporate within monthly reporting and payment detail.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly billing file as well as premium statements for all benefit plans and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs.
  • Organize data from internal systems and vendors, as requested, to support data analytics requested by management related to employee benefits enrollments, transactions, demographics, and other information as requested.
  • Communicate, train and implement billing practices and expectations to HR team in the field and department.
  • Identify and assist in creating Business Intelligence (BI) reports out of HRIS System for benefit billing purposes.
  • Evaluate the billing structure, to include identifying gaps and areas needed for improvement. Assist in identifying resolution.
  • Create a strong working relationship with corporate accounting department, to include identified practices and expectations.
  • Work directly with benefit carriers regarding questions, issues or concerns on monthly invoiced amounts, deadlines and payment practices.
  • Work directly with the benefit carrier and corporate accounting regarding self-insured medical plan, to include; claim payment, stop loss reimbursement and charge back amounts.
  • Provide assistance with correcting Error Reports that are generated from electronic benefit files sent to carriers, to include; Medical, Dental, Vision, COBRA, FSA, Leave Administration and Voluntary Benefits.
  • Provide assistance with benefit data import into HRIS System.
  • Assist with benefit projects as needed.
  •

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's Degree and two to three years of benefit analyst related experience required.
    • Excellent communication and organization skills are required.
    • HRIS systems experience.
    • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, Section 125, ACA, Social Security and DOL requirements.
    • Knowledge of office administration procedures with the ability to operate most standard office equipment.
    • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data and information while maintaining confidentiality.
    • Exercises sound judgment in responding to HR inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level.
    • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external.
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes.
    • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
    • Capable of working within established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization.
    • English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions.

    LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

    • PREFERRED: PHR or CEBS professional designation
