Project Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated, customer-oriented Systems Engineer to join our team. The selected candidate will support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Web Operation Center (WOC), which hosts 175+ services for the NOAA Enterprise using AWS and Linux, among other system components.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design infrastructure and platform services for the NOAA Enterprise
- Design solutions based on services for NOAA Enterprise customers
- Contribute to long term technical roadmap for infrastructure and platform
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency designing and managing solutions using the AWS suite of tools
- Proficiency designing and managing solutions based on the LAMP stack (or comparable)
- Proficiency designing automation using Cloud Formation, Ansible, Python and shell
- Proficiency with virtual infrastructure concepts
- Proficiency with current network and storage concepts
- Proficiency with High Availability and Fault Tolerance
- Strong problem-solving ability based on scientific method
- Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with broad direction
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- US Citizen
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Familiarity with other cloud environments, such as GCP or Azure
- Familiarity with managing Windows systems
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field and 5+ years working experience in IT Software
Preferred Certifications:
- AWS Solution Architect
