Sponsored Programs is part of the Office of Research, a group dedicated to aiding the research community in navigating the lifecycle of their work, from finding funding to creating proposals to helping inventions find their way to the public.
Under the guidance of the Senior Award Analyst, the Award Analyst is responsible for creating and modifying sponsored research accounts. This process involves reviewing award notices, account information and file documentation, verifying that all necessary internal approvals have been obtained, reviewing and adjusting budgets for set-up, recording appropriate data into the Kuali Research (KR) system, participating in award set-up QA, and issuing account notifications to Principal Investigators (PIs) and Department Administrators (DAs). The Award Analyst works closely with the Pre Award and Post Award Research Administrators (RAs) in Sponsored Programs to resolve issues and answer questions that arise during the award set-up process. The Award Analyst also provides backup for award intake and other KC and SAP operational functions.

- A bachelor's degree and minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in an office setting, preferably within an institution of higher education or non-profit, is required.
- The award analyst must be eager to learn, detail-oriented and comfortable handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. He or she must have strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable working as part of a team.
- Prior experience with pre- or post-award research administration activities, at either the department or central level, is highly desirable, but not required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and bend to lift items. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products, catering and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
