This position is primarily responsible for new product development and testing electronic assemblies, and validating systems used in cranes and mobile equipment. The role also includes leading sustaining activities on current products.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Designs, verifies, and validates electronic load measurement systems, modules, and sensors for cranes and other mobile equipment.
- Works with hardware and software engineers to define and carry-out test plans and procedures.
- Writes technical documents for test procedures and assists in creating user manuals.
- Assists Service team in advanced troubleshooting of field returns, submits engineering requests, and initiates corrective actions.
- Validates and troubleshoots product functionality during on-site customer visits as required.
- Other essential duties may be assigned as required.
- This position is also responsible for, with authority to follow ISO procedures, initiate action to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute to problem solutions, verify implementation of solutions, control further processing when a problem is identified, protect the environment, including preventing pollution, analyzing, or identifying areas for correction or improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Required:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 1-3 years' experience or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and with 5+ years' relevant experience
- Must be able to travel as required (less than 15%)
Preferred Experience:
- Design experience involving microcontrollers and interfacing 0-5V, 4-20mA, mV/V, and frequency sensors
- Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB design
- CANbus protocols: SAE J1939 and CANopen
- Troubleshooting and failure analysis of low-voltage (12/24V) electronic modules using digital oscilloscopes, DVMs, and logic analyzers
- IC datasheet and schematic compression identifying and qualifying alternate electronic components based on market availability with the ability to update designs
- Addressing component EOL, supply mitigation, and product investigations
- Test fixture programming with scripting languages and LabVIEW
- Support EMC/EMI testing at external testing facilities
- Software regression testing familiarity
- Writing technical documentation
- Working knowledge of cranes and aerial lifts
