Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a job opportunity for a full time Auxiliary Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Norfolk, VA.
Summary: The Auxiliary Systems Engineering SME serves as a technical and Subject Matter specialist applying professional general engineering knowledge and concepts in support of initiatives associated with maintenance, repair, and modernization of U.S. Navy surface ships auxiliary equipment and environmental compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report and make recommendations on material performance and maintenance trends of ships Auxiliary Systems and associated equipment to N43C as requested
- Provide technical recommendations on maintenance and operating procedures for Auxiliary Systems as requested.
- Report technical programs that affect the service life of ships with regards to Auxiliary Systems to COC
- Submit lessons learned to all stake holders as required on all significant casualties resulting from material failure are investigated determine existence of class or equipment design problems and initiate action to minimize the impact of the operating force.
- Report recommended engineering change proposals or alterations in light of evolving technology, force needs, and in- service experience as required.
- Submit engineering policy change report, procedures, life cycle repair and modernization strategies for Auxiliary Systems equipment and control systems quarterly.
- Report findings to fleet TYCOMS and other services, contractors, and higher-level commands to determine corrective action and resolution for any deficiencies.
- Submit update/reports on status of projected workload and new developmental methods and procedures to minimize material costs and resolve systematic problems annually.
- Track, report and submit Electronic Advisory Record Repository and Tracking System (eARRTs) / Class Advisories weekly.
- Report outcome of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) telecoms and seminars pertaining to Aux equipment as needed.
- Submit articles to Engineering Bulletins and Newsletters semi-annually.
- Lead, plan, and organize Aux Material Assessment Teams and submit updates, lessons learned to COC. Material Assessment Teams
- Report and submit all findings via PPT slides pertaining to deep dive analysis for AUX equipment and systems.
- Provide expert advice on environmental equipment, systems, and policy.
- Attend annual meetings and working groups as required.
- Report new and old business as it relates to Maintenance Effectiveness Reviews (FLEETMER) / Engineering Community Seminars and meetings, pertaining to AUX systems.
- Track all fuel spills from SURFLANT ships and ensure that Naval Messages are generated in response. Communicate with stakeholders such as USFF, NAVFAC and NAVSEA to determine root cause of spills.
- Initiate and track investigations when root cause of spills are not determined.
- Track Oil Pollution Abatement (OPA) certifications for SURFLANT ships while working with MARMC, SERMC, NAVSEA and NSWC.
- Coordinate with USFF and NAVFAC on the Semi-Annual Executive and Deck Plate Level Pier Side Compliance training to all SURFLANT ships at Norfolk, VA; Mayport, FL; Rota, Spain; and Manama, Bahrain.
Required Qualifications:
- Eight years of naval shipboard military experience (Retired E-7 or higher)
- Eight years of Naval Engineering steam and diesel experience
- Engineer of the Watch Qualification (EOOW)
- Boiler Water Feed Water Qualification / AC&R Technician
- High degree of technical skills using Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using Navy and DoD travel processes and online systems and Naval message writing software
- Detailed knowledge and expertise of Naval administrative and correspondence policies, instructions and regulations required
- Must have HS Diploma or equivalent
- Must have an ACTIVE SECRET level security clearance
- Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineering Training Team Qualification (ETT)
- Tours at ATG, EAA, a plus.
- AC&R certification, Experience in Navy Diesel Maintenance and programs, electrical programs
