Join a Booming Industry: Here’s our Story
Company Summary
“Now more than ever, there is a growing demand to keep used vehicles on the road…”
The Freeland family has been selling cars for almost 100 years. Tom Freeland, born and raised in Fowler, Indiana, opened his first Chevrolet dealership in the 1930’s. Shortly after, Tom’s brother, Bean Freeland, launched his initial Studabaker and Case Tractor dealerships, also in Fowler, Indiana. What these brothers didn’t realize was that they were laying the foundation for four generations of Freeland family members in the auto industry.
Fast forward to today, and the Freeland’s have established their legacy as a true car family. With dealerships spanning across multiple states, and owning 12 new car dealerships at their peak, their entrepreneurial spirit is closely intertwined to the automotive industry. But it’s not only new car sales – in the 1980’s George Freeland earned the title of the world’s largest Chris-Craft boat dealer. In the 1990’s, Ben Freeland pioneered one of the first nationwide online car sales companies in America. Today, Nick Rice, part of the Freeland Family, owns AutoMasters in Nashville, Chris Freeland owns Harbor Nissan in Port Charlotte, Florida, and Ben Freeland owns multiple new car franchises in Nashville, as well as Freeland Auto Recycling in Columbia, TN. Auto sales are a Freeland tradition passed down more reliably than the family Land Cruiser.
Freeland Auto Recycling (FAR) is a family owned and operated, full-service auto recycling business. FAR taps into the extensive Freeland network of automobile contacts, running eighteen delivery trucks daily with routes to three different states, all while maintaining a small business feel. The owner, Ben Freeland, is passionate about developing his employees and promoting from within. Ben takes his company motto “Where People Matter” to heart, and you’ll experience it your first day on the job.
