The Global Automation Engineering group uses world-class technologies, innovative solutions and technical masters to bring to life automation that “powers” the process control and quality of Abiomed’s unique heart pumps.
We are currently seeking an Automation Engineer Co-Op. This individual will be involved in an engineering effort to develop automated process, support the scale up of our business and support DFM efforts across a variety of processes and product platforms. We are seeking a hardworking, innovative and hands on candidate that has a “can do” attitude in the face of challenge.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute proof of principal work to facilitate the design of automation equipment
- Design tooling related to automation equipment, build and test
- Develop an automated pilot line
- Tune in automated machines and refine recipes to meet product requirements
- Recommend off the shelf equipment and instrumentation for use in a research like environment
- Identify and quantify critical to quality product and process attributes
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated ability to design parts in Solids Works or equivalent software
- Demonstrated ability to program in at least one language
- Experience in a regulated environment
- Experience with automation
- Create problem solver
- Highly motivated, self-directed, can-do attitude
- Interested in automation
- Interested in design for automation
