The Audio-Visual Program Manager is responsible for managing, producing, and directing video-based continuing education programs for the OLC Education & Conference Center. The role collaborates with various stakeholders, such as clients, instructional design teams, education staff, content committee liaisons, orthopaedic surgeons, and other subject matter experts, to plan, produce, and distribute video content that meets the educational needs and expectations of the target audience. The role manages the OLC’s video post-production facilities and equipment, ensuring technical quality and compliance with ACCME guidelines, and maintaining and updating the video asset database and archive. The Audio-Visual Program Manager plays a key role in enhancing the OLC’s reputation as a leading provider of innovative and effective orthopaedic education.

Operations

  • Manage the planning, production, and distribution of video-based continuing medical education programs via appropriate technology platforms, such as webinars, webcasts, and lecture capture.
  • Inform strategy and implementation of video asset curation and delivery for clients. Serve as technical advocate for clients.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding on methods, technologies, and sound educational tactics to acquire and deliver video in learning environments.
  • Communicate equipment capabilities to stakeholders. Assess and make recommendations to OLC leadership regarding new equipment requirements on behalf of OLC clients.
  • Track, evaluate, and monitor the OLC’s technology investment in digital video production and video editing hardware and software.

Production

  • Work closely with OLC staff in planning and implementing surgical skills instructional video demonstrations, live webcasts, and lecture capture.
  • Direct critical A/V operations and support all events in the Orthopaedic Learning Center.
  • Perform and/or supervise the entire production process and delivery, including shooting, editing, and archiving of surgical video programs and demonstrations.
  • Ensure that video programs produced are safe, high quality, and educationally sound in compliance with ACCME guidelines.

Management

  • Manage technical direction in the management and use of all OLC video post-production facilities.
  • Manage and operate the OLC’s video post-production facilities and equipment, such as microscopes, cameras, monitors, speakers, projectors, and recording devices.
  • Manage freelance video production and postproduction training on all systems in the OLC for staff and support workers.
  • Manage the OLC’s live streaming hardware and software and troubleshoot any technical issues.
  • Manage and update the video asset database and archive.

Coordination

  • Collaborate with the OLC clients, instructional design teams, education staff, content committee liaisons, orthopaedic surgeons, and other subject matter experts to understand their AV needs and expectations and provide solutions and recommendations.
  • Work closely with clients who reserve the OLC Mobile lab and then manage the events that the OLC client has sold in the OLC Mobile lab.
  • Coordinate with the external audio-visual vendor(s) and the convention center AV technicians to ensure efficient and accurate live streaming, video recording, and projection outside the mobile lab.

Travel:

  • Up to 10 days per year

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in audio-visual production, media studies, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in managing, producing, and directing video-based educational programs, preferably in the medical or health care sector.
  • Proficient in using various video production and editing software and tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in applying guidelines and standards for continuing medical education programs.
  • Comfortable in working with graphic medical content.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.

Desired:

  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification or equivalent
  • Knowledge of lab safety and quality standards, policies, and regulations
  • Association or not-for-profit experience

Please note:

This hybrid position is based in Rosemont, Illinois and is open to applicants who are able to commute weekly to this office.
