Description of Work:
As an Attorney 2, you will utilize your experience and leadership to offer legal advice to decision-makers within the PHRC, as well as advise commission employees on the proper interpretation of laws and the subsequent appropriate course of legal action. You will conduct litigation involving appearances in front of hearing examiners, the Commonwealth Court and Supreme Court, and other tribunals as applicable.
We are looking for someone with excellent organizational skills, as a key part of this position includes the preparation of legal documents such as pleadings, legal opinions, and reports, in addition to preparing post-hearing submissions. Strong critical thinking skills are exercised while evaluating and conducting legal research on various issues involving commission initiatives and special projects. You will collect facts, review applicable laws and regulations, analyze information, evaluate for merit, identify operational impacts, and provide comprehensive recommendation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of professional legal experience and graduation from an accredited school of law; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must have civil rights and legal experience.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Post Employment Requirement:
Applicants must be certified for admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and must maintain membership on a continuous basis during employment.
