Position Summary:
The Athletic Director is responsible for overseeing, and managing the school’s athletic
programs. The Director will collaborate on the department’s budget with their supervisor, hire
and evaluate athletic staff, and schedule and track events. The Director will represent Lotus
School for Excellence at meetings and Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA)
committees while adhering to Lotus School for Excellence and state policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Planning, organizing, and coordinating all aspects of the school’s athletic programs.
● Represent the school at district athletic and activities meetings. Serve on both District
and CHSAA committees
● Supervise after-school athletic and activities events
● Maintain a thorough knowledge and adhere to all school, league and state association
policies and procedures that relate athletic and non-athletic sponsored activity by Lotus
School for Excellence. Adhere to and uphold CHSAA/APS Athletic regulations and
guidelines
● Coordinate, organize and manage all facets of home and visiting group sporting
events/activities, this includes responsibility for tickets and money; scheduling game
workers, clock operators, scorekeepers, etc.
● Work collaboratively with all stakeholders in the school community and articulation area
● Responsible for the oversight of the school’s athletic/activities budget. Oversees all
school sanctioned clubs and activities
● Responsible for the coordination and leadership in hiring, training and supervising of all
head coaches. Responsible for annual evaluation and providing feedback to all head
coaches
● Ensuring that all athletic programs comply with relevant laws, regulations, and school
policies.
● Supervise eligibility records, physical examinations, parent permission slips, insurance
coverage, athletic and activities fees and code of conduct agreements
● Schedule and facilitate annual pre-season parent/coach meetings
● Responsible for all the paperwork involved with athletic and non-athletic activities
including but not limited to, supplemental agreements for coaches, inventories,
purchasing records, code of conduct violations, etc.
● Supervise the completion of student paperwork requirements prior to practicing or
competing. This includes, but is not limited to, physicals, student fees, insurance
coverage, student athletic agreements eligibility lists and participants’ lists
● Promotes publicity for all interscholastic sports through the use of press releases,
student bulletins, web page, etc.
● Communicating with parents, students and the community about athletic programs.
Promoting school sports and building positive relationships with stakeholders.
● Organizing and coordinating athletic events, including games, tournaments, and
competitions . Manage logistics such as scheduling, referees, and facilities.
● Focusing on the holistic development of student-athletes, including academic success,
character development, and sportsmanship.
● Seeking and securing funding through fundraising activities, sponsorships, and
partnerships.
● Implementing safety measures and protocols to ensure the well-being of
student-athletes. Managing and addressing any issues related to injuries or
emergencies during athletic events.
● Keeping records of team performance, statistics, and achievements. Providing regular
reports to school administration and stakeholders.
● Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
● Bachelor's degree required in Physical Education, Communication, Education or
Marketing
● 3-5 years coaching experience in Colorado
● 1-2 years experience in a leadership role or capacity
● Certified Teacher in the state of Colorado
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
● Master’s Degree
● Administration License in the state of Colorado
Reports to: Middle/High School Principal
Job Type: Full-time (218-day calendar)
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Compensation and Benefits:
● $65,000 - $110,000 / year (BOE)
● Funding of 100% of individual medical benefits and a wide range of insurance plans
● Approximately 10 days of PTO annually
