  • Salary range between $80,000. - $105,000. Based on experience.

SUMMARY: Lead, supervise, coordinate and evaluate middle school and high school Activities and Athletics to support the extracurricular development of participating students. Work in close collaboration with the Executive Director, High School Principal, Middle School Principal, staff, parents/guardians, and scholar-athletes. Direct all aspects of programming including hiring and evaluation of coaching staff, scheduling, budget preparation, promotion, facility management, school clubs, groups, and activities, field trips, and extra-curricular fundraising.

Leadership and Vision

  • Communicate a clear vision for the Activities and Athletics Department aligned with The Academy’s mission and vision.
  • Provide strategic leadership for our 6-12 athletics program, fostering scholar-athletes growth.
  • Be directly in charge of hiring, guidance, professional development, evaluation, leadership, and accountability for coaches and club sponsors.
  • Partner and build relationships with the Academy community to develop additional opportunities to enhance the student athletics and extracurricular experience.
  • Supervise the coordination and evaluation of middle school and high school athletics and activities to ensure programs of high standards.

Community Engagement and Culture Development

  • Represent the school in arrangements and scheduling of post-season athletic events including district, regional and state culminating events.
  • Organize and promote events that showcase the achievements and talents of students and athletes
  • Promote scholar-athlete development through sporting behavior, character education, teamwork, leadership, and citizenship.
  • Monitor gender equity in athletics by considering Title IX when evaluating requests for new programs in order to maintain equity and parity of school programs.
  • Promote effective communication between the schools and community by creating positive support for the continued improvement of the programs.
  • Formulate and execute strategies to nurture community and belonging, fostering goodwill and positive connections among all Academy stakeholders through personal relationships, internal and external communications, publications, and events.
  • Mediate any disputes between athletes, coaches, families, staff, community members, visiting teams and other members who occupy the facilities.
  • Embrace and encourage consistent feedback.

Program Management

  • Manage the school athletic facilities including coordinating improvements, plans, schedules and maintenance to ensure the well-being of students, parents and staff.
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of all athletic events to ensure coaches, staff, and athletes are fully supported during competitions.
  • Supervise and monitor student behavior in an effort to maintain an academic environment conducive to student achievement including, but not limited to, supervision during the school day and during co-curricular activities at night and after school.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, Human Resources and payroll in hiring quality personnel for coaching. Monitor the regular pay and supplement pay of all coaches.
  • Participate in monthly Metro League meetings and the Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) providing the school with perspective and leadership while determining rules and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regional and state athletic association rules and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of athlete eligibility and participation.
  • Participate in school administrative team decision-making and meetings
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of athletes.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Prepare and submit the budget for athletics and activities, assign school funds and monitor expenditures in order to maintain, control and account for athletic and activity funds.
  • Responsible for developing, administering, coordinating and monitoring the athletic budgets.
  • Participate in coordinating the budgets and initiating requisitions.


EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
:

  • Bachelors from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of success in K-12 teaching, coaching, and/or educational administration, or similar experiences.
  • Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering authentic connections with students, parents/guardians, coaches, faculty, and staff.
  • Training in management of secondary extra-curricular and Athletic programs, risk management, time management, people management, and marketing preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to frequently travel among facility and event locations.
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Continued professional growth by attending classes, clinics, and camps pertaining to the sports and extracurricular activities

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal relations and oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision making, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Advanced skill in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels.
  • Thorough understanding of CHSAA’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of risk management, philosophy and organization of programs, legal issues in athletics administration, Title IX, sexual harassment, Americans with Disabilities Act and employment law.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with request interruptions.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
  • Operating knowledge of information technology systems and any other department specific software and equipment required within one month after entering position.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION/GUIDANCE:

  • Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, disciplining, terminating, directing work, assigning work, training and evaluation. Assists with hiring and terminating employees.
