The Associate Producer works on all aspects of production from concept to completion, working with a small team of producers and production assistants to complete multiple documentary-style projects simultaneously. You may also assist with other productions such as on-location town hall and live event programming and specials. You should be able to determine, plan, and manage their day-to-day activities as well as long-term priorities regarding all aspects of the production. You must be able to start with a concept pitch and see it through to a completed project.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researching stories, writing scripts, coordinating field shoots, finding archival video, managing rights and clearances
- Coordinating with other departments throughout Fox including legal, finance, graphics, and field production.
- Producing projects ranging in length from 10 minutes to 1 hour
- Pitching story ideas and writing scripts
- Booking guests and conducting both on and off-camera interviews
- Working with field crews to shoot interviews and additional footage
- Working with editors to turn the raw footage into a completed, polished program
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
- Experience working on long-form production
- 2+ years of experience writing and producing experience at a legitimate news organization, production company, or documentary film company
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills
- Ability to work with others under strict pressure to meet imposed deadlines
- Ability to write, edit, and proof-read quality written content
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Ability to think creatively and develop new and interesting approaches to storytelling
- Strong knowledge of current events and historical events
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $61,000.00-70,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
