Job Description
Supervises the preparation of consulting services charges international subsidiaries, and the related journal entries to record all intercompany transactions. Ensures the timely and accurate submission of international sales and related financial information to external auditors and tax consultants, Export/Import Compliance and Legal. Coordinates the cost recovery program for consulting services provided to international subsidiaries. Provides technical guidance in the design, implementation and administration of current and new corporate timekeeping and related consulting services billing systems. Works with international subsidiary personnel and Tax to ensure compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and Company policy for inter-company accounting transactions.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the accuracy of consulting services charges to international subsidiaries. Works with the International Billing staff to establish procedures, set priorities, resolve issues, and ensure timely response to support international chargebacks. Ensures accurate project setup and allocation setup in the timekeeping system. Monitors and resolves outstanding billing or credit request issues. Reviews monthly journal entries to record all intercompany activity and reconciliations of the billing statements to the general ledger for each subsidiary/distributor.
- Responsible for complex accounting for foreign exchange gains/losses incurred by MKI on all consulting services transactions with the international subsidiaries, in compliance with U.S. GAAP and management requirements for internal reporting. Provides expertise and support to each Division/Region by analyzing and interpreting intercompany consulting services charges.
- Analyzes and gathers data related to intercompany software license fees and SaaS billings to all international operations. This complex data encompasses multiple years and various phases of each internally developed software project.
- Serves as system administrator for the International Invoicing and International Timekeeping Systems. Initiates system updates as required to comply with customs requirements, local statutory requirements and to improve efficiencies to meet the demands of Mary Kay’s growing international business. Works with IST on development and testing. Maintains security. Performs ad-hoc queries as required for customs compliance review, U.S. and international tax reporting, litigation, Customs audits and other issues.
- Coordinates the MKI cost recovery program for consulting services provided to the international subsidiaries. Interfaces with various departments to collect timesheet data and expense reports, utilizes timekeeping system to analyze and produce reports for review and invoicing, reviews journal entries and ensures accuracy of accounting. Analyzes cost recovery efficiency and works with international tax to implement changes in billing structures as required. Organizes and maintains time reporting documentation to support future audits by U.S. and international authorities.
- Supports subsidiary and region office finance personnel by providing guidance on Company policy for inter-company accounting; provides assimilation training as staff visit Dallas.
- Performs special projects on request for subsidiaries, management, external auditors, tax consultants, Legal and Export/Import Compliance.
- This job requires on-site work at a Mary Kay facility.
Skills & Experience
Experience: 5+ years in accounting / billing with 2+ years of supervisory experience
Education: Bachelor/University Degree in Accounting or Finance or IT related
- Accounting: Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, specifically in international transactions, translation and foreign currency.
- Analysis: With minimal guidance, analyze more complex information. Consider multiple solutions. Benchmark research using relevant tools and considering multiple factors.
- Communication: Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills to present information clearly and concisely to management, provide direction to staff and prepare reports. Must be able to communicate with various levels of employees.
- Influence: Able to produce a desired effect by building and maintaining trusting relationships. Actively listens to stakeholders and backs up opinions with facts, knowledge, and logic.

Requires strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Tools: Proficient in the use of software tools and systems; this includes Microsoft Office applications - advanced pivot tables. Understanding of ERP systems. Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the interrelationship of systems.
