What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Government/SSA DCM business, you will become an integral part of the fabric of CIBC’s New York based debt capital markets team. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring you to effectively process information in the course of executing transactions in a constantly changing market environment. The successful candidate will therefore need to adapt to these conditions with creativity, energy and an entrepreneurial spirit in order to meet the evolving demands of the marketplace.
How You’ll Succeed
Our DCM business provides Associates with an opportunity to build upon the knowledge and experience that they have likely already gained in either a previous DCM and/or comparable capital markets role. Associates will need to be effective communicators capable of building relationships both internally and with clients. As an Associate, you will have the responsibility of drafting pitch decks, comparable lists and market overview presentations. Additionally, you will provide detailed analytics, financial modeling, structuring, research and transaction support to senior professionals in your business, helping to win business and execute transactions. Finally, it is expected that you would be capable of assuming increasing levels of responsibility as it relates to engaging with our clients from both an administrative and transaction support perspective.
Who You Are
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork and accountability.
  • You can demonstrate experience with:
    • Undergraduate university and/or Master’s degree in a finance-related discipline; DCM experience preferred
    • Knowledge of business, economics and/or finance acquired through education and experience
    • Strong interest in, and knowledge of, financial markets
    • Strong technical, computational and analytical skills
    • An understanding and familiarity with credit ratings
    • Detail-oriented and able to think logically
    • Demonstrated ability to play close attention to detail and multi-task under tight deadlines
    • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel
    • Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to grasp complex concepts
    • Proven ability to contribute to high performance teams
    • Willing to work extended hours in a high pressure/high reward environment
    • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
  • You embrace and champion change. You'll continuously evolve your thinking and the way you work in order to deliver your best.
  • Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by making yourself heard.
  • You’re digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.
  • You're driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to create a shared vision.
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000-$170,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
What CIBC Offers
At CIBC, your goals are a priority. We start with your strengths and ambitions as an employee and strive to create opportunities to tap into your potential. We aspire to give you a career, rather than just a paycheck.
  • We work to recognize you in meaningful, personalized ways including a competitive salary, incentive pay, banking benefits, a benefits program*, a vacation offering, wellbeing support, and MomentMakers, our social, points-based recognition program.
  • Our spaces and technological toolkit will make it simple to bring together great minds to create innovative solutions that make a difference for our clients.

  • Subject to plan and program terms and conditions
