Description
We seek applicants for a full-time position with the STEM & Business division to administer all aspects of physical and natural Science Laboratories.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Support, supervise, and perform laboratory preparation as necessary to facilitate instruction in the Science Laboratories at all HCC locations
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise laboratory assistants, technicians, and student employees
- Maintain laboratory inventory of chemicals, instructional supplies, and equipment
- Assist the Associate Dean in the development of the budget for instructional lab supplies, equipment, and part-time employee salaries
- Maintain OSHA laboratory safety standards, a chemical hygiene plan, an incident report log, and Material Safety Data Sheets
- Remain knowledgeable of current science laboratory offerings and techniques in order to train and support laboratory assistants, technicians, and student employees
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a natural or physical sciences discipline or other discipline with relevant experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to collaborate successfully in a team setting
- High degree of safety consciousness and responsibility
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in a life or physical sciences discipline
- Experience maintaining science laboratory environment and associated equipment
- Experience teaching science laboratory classes
- Supervisory experience

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Vacation: 20 days per year with a maximum annual carry-over of 40 days
Sick Leave: 12 days per year with unlimited annual carry-over
Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays plus 3 paid floating days
HCC is closed from Christmas Eve Day through New Year's Day generally resulting in 2-3 additional paid days
