Job Summary/Description:The Associate Director of Student Care Services oversees case management services to a population of Students with at-risk mental health and social support needs through interventions, referrals, and active follow-up.
Typical Duties/Job Duties:1. Support and advocate for students who are exhibiting symptoms of distress with mental health issues, relationship conflicts, personality and social adjustments matters, physical health and nutrition, and trauma recovery.2. Coordinate resources through campus and community partners to ensure an early intervention approach.
3. Possess a demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage a diverse caseload.
4. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student staff, including interns.5. Use computer software to document and track cases.
6. Develop and maintain a database of referral resources and community services.
7. Oversee and manage a comprehensive university wide education, training, and outreach program.
8. Maintain strong and collaborative relationships with university offices including, but not limited to, Residence Life, Counseling Services, and the University Police Department.
9. Serve as a member of the Care and Behavioral Intervention Teams.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of Care/BIT methods; knowledge of mental health issues, including, but not limited to anxiety, substance abuse, depression, sexual dysfunction, sexual assault, stress management, suicide, and eating disorders; understanding of public safety and crisis management; ability to recognizing the need for referral, as appropriate; knowledge of community social services resources; strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills; ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, competence, and resourcefulness; ability to perform effectively in stressful situations; knowledge of and adherence to current professional and ethical standards; knowledge of Student development theory and application; knowledge of program planning, implementation, and evaluation; skilled in oral and written communications; ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities; ability to work independently and be proactive; ability to work with faculty, staff, students, and the general public in a professional manner; ability to use computers, technology, software, and applications for data and records management.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, health sciences, human services, higher education, education, student affairs, or a directly related field from an accredited institution; knowledge of care and behavioral intervention team policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, health sciences, human services, higher education, education, student affairs, or a directly related field from an accredited institution; case management experience; crisis management and mental health training; involvement with NaBITA or other professional behavioral intervention organization.
Physical Requirements:Sit and walk, perform desk-based computer tasks; use a telephone; lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds; may require working flexible, irregular, and/or longer hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
