Job Overview:
Support and assist the Director of Nutrition Services in managing the operations of Child Nutrition Program to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations while providing nutritious meals to all stakeholders. Specifically oversee operations of office staff and procedures, software systems, and nutritional adequacy, quality, and acceptability of all meals served. Assist with fiscal and personnel management.
Responsibilities:
1.Assist the director in ensuring that the Student Nutrition office and operations are supportive of the instructional goals of the district.
2. Maintain written procedures for cafeteria and office activities and processes.
3. Work with Supervisors to ensure campuses' compliance of reimbursable meals and competitive food
4. Develop employee growth, efficiency, morale and teamwork
5. Ensure TDA compliance concerning smart snacks, and competitive foods and ensure meal compliance according to USDA regulations
6. Coordinates with supervisors and maintains campus records but not limited to:
a. Onsite Reviews for all Federal Programs. Onsite Health Inspector Report
b. Federal, state and local guidelines for counting, claiming, documenting and production of those meals
7. Determine and evaluate sanitation standards among Student Nutrition service personnel in food preparation and facilities maintenance.
8. Oversee the Seamless Summer Program for the District, manage and maintain all corresponding paperwork associated with the programs
9. Ensure Safety regulations are implemented and managed, such as personal protective equipment is worn at all times when performing any task that could jeopardize the safety and health of an employee. Follow-up reviews to ensure adherence to the requirement
10. Facilitate cross-training so other Student Nutrition staff become proficient and knowledgeable in job assignments
11. Train managers and staff in recipe standardization, menu planning, and food preparation.
12. Oversee upgrades for department POS/office software annually, and as needed.
13. Ensure software programs are operating in compliance with all laws and regulations.
14. Liaison with software companies and the District Information Technology Department
15. Interview, recommend for hire, and train substitute personnel.
16. Oversee Professional Standards training and TASN certification levels for all staff.
17. Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative techniques, and changing laws and regulations.
18. Plan In-Service training for food service personnel.
19. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities
20. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
21. Other Duties as Assigned by the Director of Student Nutrition
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Restaurant Institutional Management, or Business Management or related business degree.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to coordinate district functions.
Knowledge of Federal School Meal programs and regulations
Ability to follow instructions, plan projects, and work effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Knowledge of Federal School Meal programs and regulations
Knowledge of cost control and financial reports
Strong computer skills: Software application knowledge; i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe.
