Position Purpose:The mission of Thayer Career Services is to help engineering students and alumni develop strategies for career success. The Associate Director facilitates recruiting and external relations programs with employers seeking to hire students from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth within the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs, and provides job-search coaching.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:- Bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience working in higher education, recruiting, or similar professional service role.
- Experience coaching students in all aspects of strategic job and internship searches.
- Experience creating and delivering workshops and presentations to a diverse audience.
- A strong sense of teamwork, flexibility, and ability to collaborate in a diverse setting.
- Master’s degree in counseling, education, or similar discipline strongly preferred.
- Experience with Handshake recruiting system or similar recruiting platforms.

Description:Program Management
- Manages the design and delivery of recruiting activities for undergraduate and graduate engineering students.
- Develops close ties with alumni(ae)and other tech-industry contacts to seek and develop employment and internship opportunities for students.
- Manages annual engineering career fair, virtual fair/interviews at Thayer. Collaborates with the Assistant Director to host virtual career fairs and events. Provides guidance and insight regarding employers to invite.

Description:Planning/Administration
- Works closely with the Director to explore opportunities to develop new and key partnerships with employers for job and intern opportunities.
- Leads the department efforts in planning, consolidating, and implementing those opportunities.
- Networks with industry contacts and conducts site visits to encourage and foster new employer participation in Thayer programs.
- Establishes guidelines for student and employer participation in recruitment programs.
- Plans, organizes and sets annual recruiting calendar, including all deadlines and processes.
- Schedules arrangements for on-campus interviewing, distributes information on internships.
- Reviews and enforces policies with students and employers.
- Coordinates alumni/ae/recruiter visits to campus with Advancement and other appropriate staff in external relations at Thayer School.

Description:Career Coaching/Advising
- Serving a diverse population, provides job-search coaching to undergraduate and graduate students, and alumni(ae).
- Prepares and delivers compelling workshops and presentations related to job and internship strategy.
- Monitors students’ interest and workplace/industry trends in order to contribute to strategic planning and programming initiatives.
- Oversees content, data entry, and record management for database, recording information on student interests, course of study, and employment preferences.

Description:Communication/Representation
- Develops and maintains employer relationships to pursue entry-level job and internship opportunities.
- Serves as initial point-of-contact and advisor for employers inquiring about most effective ways to engage with and hire Dartmouth/Thayer students.
- Collaborates closely with the Career Services Coordinator to identify new employer engagement leads.
- Cultivates and strengthens collaboration with Advancement Office.
- Consults with Communications, Cook Engineering Design Center, and MEM Program staff on the development of web-based and print communications for students and employers.
- Represents Dartmouth/Thayer in appropriate professional organizations and at professional meetings.
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.

Description:Supervisory Responsibility
- Hires, trains and supervises student assistants.
- As needed, under the direction of the Director of Career Services, will help train and collaborate with both the Career Services Coordinator and the Career Services Assistant Director in support of recruitment activities and events. Manages volunteers for career fairs.
