TITLE: Food Service Director
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated work experience in school/commercial Food Service. Meets (or eligible) USDA and State of NH credentials for School Food Service Director through combined educational experience, training, and job experience focused on nutrition, dietetics, Food Service management, food preparation, culinary arts, or related fields.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: Supervise all Food Services operations and staff to provide nutritious appealing meals and snacks for students and staff, and maintain the cafeteria to meet the needs of the school community.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and manages the preparation and serving of meals and snacks from the school kitchen/cafeteria, including the distribution of monthly menus.
- Inspects food, facilities, and operations to ensure that standards of diet, cleanliness, health, and safety are being maintained, and reports to administrators and other authorities the need for any actions or repairs.
- Manages the Food Service budget including purchasing ingredients and supplies, and charging students and staff for meals using a digital scan system.
- Coordinates with administrators to access federal grants and subsidies, and to support the processing of free and reduced meal applications for student families.
- Comply with individual student’s mandated dietary plans.
- Maintains appropriate accounting procedures in cooperation with the finance office and assumes responsibility for the secure processing of Food Service revenue.
- Coordinates with administrators to recruit, hire, and train Food Service staff, and to assign schedules and duties, and to supervise and evaluate Food Service staff.
- Monitors and supervises the work time records of Food Service staff.
- Applies for government surplus food and directs appropriate use of such food.
- Purchases and maintains an inventory of all food, supplies, and equipment, in secure and appropriate storage areas.
- Prepares and provides any necessary forms and reports to authorities of USDA, NH Department of Education, Bartlett School District, SAU9, and others as appropriate.
- Supervises planning and preparation of any meals required for special school events.
- Participates on the Wellness committee and other relevant groups to collaborate on efforts to improve Food Service and nutrition for the school community.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 student school days + 10 days for preparation and training as determined with administration. Compensation and benefits in accordance with Bartlett School District Non-Contracted Personnel Policy.
EVALUATION: Performance evaluated in accordance with Bartlett School District Non-Contracted Personnel Policy provisions on evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
