Associate Director - International Business Tax Strategy

The Associate Director of International Business Tax Strategy is responsible for leading and directing all tax related matters associated with Lilly's International Business Unit ("IBU") business development activities, providing ongoing support for corporate business development deals, and assisting with IBU foreign country tax audit support related to transactions.

Key objectives and deliverables:

• Provide tax leadership and advice associated with the IBU's business development activities such as mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, licensing, integration, etc.
• Work effectively with economists, lawyers, and accountants on matters related to business development and foreign tax audits
• Partner with Lilly corporate tax affiliate liaisons on local country tax issues
• Lead process to document tax implications of IBU divestitures, including transaction documentation, tax positions, transfer pricing documentation, and tax audit defense files
• Develop and nurture strong relationships with the leadership of the IBU and other partnered organizations within Lilly
• Support other business development needs as required

Basic requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• CPA or equivalent certification or CPA certification eligible and/or JD
• Minimum of 6 years income tax experience
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Preferences:

• Experience in business development-related tax matters, transfer pricing, and legal entity structuring.
• Strong tax planning and research skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to lead and work in a cross-functional team-oriented environment

Other information:

• Travel within and, possibly, outside the United States
• Teleconferences before and after normal working hours
