About the Role
Reporting to the CHRO, the Human Resources Business Partner plays a key role within our HR team driving business success and improving organizational culture. This position will be a key partner to senior leadership in building and executing the organization’s people strategy and performance initiatives, hiring exceptional talent, implementing HR programs, and coaching managers at all levels. The position works cross-functionally to build partnerships and deliver results that support the organizational and functional objectives of the business.
The Associate Director of Human Resources works within the HR department at the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at the East Windsor, NJ location. This position works onsite at the facility four days per week.
Position Responsibilities
  • HR Strategy Development:
    • Collaborate with the VP, SVP/CHRO, and Human Resources team to develop and deploy HR strategies that align with the facility's business goals and objectives.
    • Act as a strategic partner to business leaders and managers.
    • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to ensure the facility remains competitive in terms of HR practices.
  • Talent Acquisition:
    • Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring the facility attracts and hires top talent, including scientists, engineers, production staff, and support functions.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with educational institutions and industry networks to source talent effectively.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to facility leaders on HR matters, providing guidance and support on employee relations issues.
    • Implement and maintain effective employee relations programs and initiatives.
  • Performance Management:
    • Develop and oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, performance appraisals, and employee development plans.
    • Ensure that performance management practices align with the company's culture and values.
  • Training and Development:
    • Facilitate new employee onboarding.
    • Identify training and development needs within the facility and design programs to address them.
    • Collaborate with department heads to create career development paths for employees.
  • HR Technology:
    • Support the rollout of the Oracle HRIS system.
    • Manage and keep relevant data current in the HRIS system.
  • Compliance and Regulations:
    • Ensure that HR practices comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as industry-specific regulations.
    • Stay informed about changes in labor laws and regulations that may impact the facility.
  • Compensation and Benefits:
    • Manage compensation and benefits programs, including salary benchmarking, benefits administration, and incentive plans.
    • Work to ensure competitive compensation packages to attract and retain top talent.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
    • Manage HR department resources effectively to achieve departmental goals.

    • Organizational development programs execution, including performance appraisal, individual development planning, problem resolution, change management, future planning & organizational development, etc.

    • Building strong and trusted partnerships with business leaders and HR teams.
    • Employee relations preferably in a manufacturing environment
    • Relevant employment law, personnel policies & process/ procedures best practices.
  • Strong customer-centered service ethic – believes that partnering across our organization and with stakeholders is key to success in their role.
  • Proficient in Inclusion and Diversity and the ability to apply it effectively across the organization.
  • Strong communication skills - written, verbal, presentation with the ability to impact & influence stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, judgment, critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • HR Systems knowledge & experience.
  • Possesses intellectual curiosity and brings valuable insights to the team and business.
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in an HR people leadership role.
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or a highly regulated manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
