Position Summary:

The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The mission of the Department of Social Work at Western Carolina University is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to practice at the generalist (BSW) and advanced generalist (MSW) levels of Social Work practice. Congruent with the University’s mission to improve individual lives and enhance community development in the predominately rural Western North Carolina region, the Department seeks to prepare professionals who are committed to the core Social Work values of respect for all people and advancement of Social and economic justice.
The Department of Social Work is recruiting for a 9-month, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor, anticipated begin date of August 2024. Duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate Social Work courses, conducting research, publishing and presenting in professional venues, seeking extramural funding, providing student advisement, and engaging in service to the department, college, university, and community. Candidates should demonstrate a well-developed research agenda and a commitment to scholarship, teaching, and service in the Social Work profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

MSW from a CSWE accredited Social Work program and PhD in Social Work or related field on or before December 31, 2024.

Preferred Qualifications:

MSW from a CSWE accredited Social Work program with two or more years post-MSW practice experience and DSW or PhD in Social Work.
