Responsibilities
The Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Criminology at Troy University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor of Anthropology, anticipated to begin in August 2024. The department is seeking a colleague whose research supports the growth of our newly established interdisciplinary minor in forensic science and complements the existing strength of the department. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Biological Anthropology and Forensic Anthropology and demonstrate forensic science-related or applicable research experience.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated to excellent teaching in a liberal arts environment and welcome opportunities to work with, mentor, and advise students with diverse backgrounds, academic interests, and learning styles. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester in a typical academic year. Troy University has a long tradition of in-person and online education, so we seek a candidate who will welcome the opportunity to teach in both formats each semester. Strong research credentials, a promising scholarly agenda, and service to the department, college, university, community, and discipline are also essential.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Anthropology or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
While the specialty area should be Biological Anthropology, the research subject is open. Preferential consideration will be given to the candidate who:
- Has expertise in Forensic Anthropology
- Demonstrates the ability to teach courses such as Introduction to Biological Anthropology, Osteology, Forensic Anthropology
- Shows the capacity to involve students in ongoing or potential research project(s) or grant(s).
- Demonstrates the potential to form an interdisciplinary partnership(s).
