Assistant Professor Aerospace Engineering
The School ofMechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the College of Engineering,Architecture and Technology in coordination with the LaunchPad Center forAdvanced Air Mobility at Oklahoma State University Oklahoma Aerospace Institutefor Research and Education is pleased to invite applications for onetenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank or higher. Exceptionalcandidates in Aerospace Engineering are encouraged to apply; applicants shouldhave teaching and research interestsin an area of Aerospace Engineering. Academic appointments will be hosted inthe School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
Successfulcandidates will have demonstrated potential for developing a strong externallyfunded research program and for excellent teaching at the undergraduate andgraduate levels. An earned Ph.D. in a field closely aligned to advanced airmobility is required, and an earned B.S. or M.S. degree in aerospaceengineering or related field from an ABET-accredited or equivalent program ispreferred. The research areas of the successful applicant must be in a rapidlydeveloping area and reflect strong promise of competitive extramural funding tosupport building an internationally recognized research program. Positions willbe located at the OSU Tulsa campus in the Helmerich Research Center.
Preferencewill be given to candidates interested in collaborative efforts andmulti-disciplinary multi-investigator research programs aligned with OSU'sOklahoma Aerospace Institute for Research and Education. While all competitive candidateswill be considered, areas of particular interest include (but are not limitedto) teaching and research expertise in one of the following areas: Advanced Air Mobility: computationalautonomy/planning, autonomous systems design, AI/ML, advanced air mobilityplatform design and configuration analysis, hybrid and electric power, distributedelectric propulsion, UAS/UAM flight operations, aviation weather for AAMoperations, mobile robotics autonomous systems, throughput, mission and systemperformance, long duration flight, aerospace and transportation embodiments.Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is thelargest engineering program in the College of Engineering, Architecture andTechnology (CEAT) and one of the largest departments in the university.
The School ofMechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is the largest engineeringprogram in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) and one of the largest departments in the university. With more than1100 undergraduates and 140 graduate students, MAE fosters collaborative andinterdisciplinary research in the strategic areas of Aerospace, manufacturing,and energy.
The HelmerichResearch Center (HRC) is a state-of-the-art research, development, testingand education center located on the OSU-Tulsa campus near downtown Tulsa. Themission is focused on providing research, testing, technology transfer andeducation to advance the region's aerospace, energy, manufacturing,transportation, electronics and medical industries. Research at the HRC has apositive impact on the economy and quality of life for the region and providesopportunities for OSU students and faculty to work hand-in-hand withindustries.
The Oklahoma Aerospace Institute forResearch and Education acts as the center of gravity for a statewideinitiative to answer industry and federal demand for innovation, excellence,and expertise in aerospace. OAIRE brings the state's aerospace innovationeconomy together under one umbrella. OAIRE supports ongoing and futurepartnerships between university, commercial, military and government agencies,becoming a valuable resource for developing Oklahoma's aerospace ecosystem.That includes generating high-tech jobs and cutting-edge research that bringscommercial enterprise and military sustainment support to the state. Thecomprehensive scope of OAIRE also includes K-12 outreach programs focused onSTEM connections, building the Oklahoma aerospace workforce pipeline andpromoting community involvement.
The LaunchPadResearch and Technology Center, led and implemented by Oklahoma StateUniversity, seeks to address the persistent lack of industry-aligned researchand development in the Tulsa region. The Launchpad Research Center supportsadvanced air mobility (AAM) research & entrepreneurship. Leveraging an $18MEDA Grant win in collaboration with Tulsa Innovation Lab (TIL) and the OsageNation, OSU has committed $10M in support for faculty, research engineers, andtechnologies to establish the Launchpad and the Skyway Range. This providesunique national capabilities focusing on the gap in commercialization andopportunity to build stronger partnerships with industry and entrepreneurs.
Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in afield closely aligned advanced air mobility field is required, and an earnedB.S. or M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field from an ABETaccredited or equivalent program is preferred.
