The Opportunity:
The Assistant Vice President will be charged with the strategic development of a principal gift pipeline and serve as a principal gifts fundraiser. This role will spearhead principal gift fundraising in preparation for a campaign, working collaboratively across the organization with Advancement colleagues, university leadership, deans, and faculty members, as well as facilitating interaction of principal level prospects with the President and other leadership.
The successful candidate will have experience with developing and managing principal gift relationships and a campus-wide pipeline, high emotional intelligence with the keen awareness of when to defer to colleagues and partners across the UCF community, a deeply curious mind, and be successful handling complex gifts with multiple stakeholders. The ability to travel to personally develop relationships and to staff leadership as needed is desired.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with university leadership, deans, and faculty members, develop relationships with individuals and organizations that lead to principal gifts defined as commitments of $1 million or greater.
- Develops cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans to secure principal and planned gifts and maintains a select portfolio of prospects rated with a giving capacity of $1 million or more, particularly those with multiple giving interests.
- Facilitates interaction of principal level prospects with the President, CEO of the UCF Foundation, Inc., senior administrators and deans, and faculty.
- Directs collaborative efforts to develop a strategy for principal level prospects shared by more than one academic unit; facilitates action plan and monitors implementation of the strategy.
- Serves as fundraising convener on principal gifts; collaboratively leads strategies that include highly complex gift discussions and interactions with donors capable of making significant contributions across campus.
- Coordinates the stewardship of all principal gift donors as well as the next steps associated with these relationships.
- Works with the SAVP and the Executive Team to identify areas of focus and prepares comprehensive fundraising goals, objectives, budgets, and plans for all areas of management responsibility.
- Provides fundraising leadership for and on behalf of UCF Advancement by acquiring and maintaining knowledge of UCFF’s policies and procedures, becoming knowledgeable of all aspects of the business.
- With high emotional intelligence, courage and exemplary communications skills, is keenly aware of when to defer to colleagues and partners across the UCF community.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with developing and managing principal gift relationships and a campus-wide pipeline.
- Possess the ability to work independently, as well as cohesively as a member of a team.
- Ability to clearly communicate critical areas for fundraising growth and craft a cohesive Transformational Giving program short- and longer-term strategy.
- A deeply curious mind and organized, with an efficient approach to complex workflow.
- Significant experience in roles of increasing responsibility, focusing on creative and dynamic fundraising efforts through collaboration and consensus building.
- A professional comfortable working with top levels of leadership, with focus on moves management and gathering buy-in across the organization.
- A comfort with handling complex gifts, multiple partners and sensitive situations.
- Ability to travel to personally develop relationships and staff leadership.
