Nicollet County is accepting applications for the position of Assistant VeteransService Officerfor the Health and Human Services Department.
The Assistant County Veterans Service Officer (ACVSO) helps veterans and their families seeking state and federal benefits that they are entitled to because of military service. Examples of services provided include comprehensive benefits counseling and claims preparation, submission, and follow-up. This position also reaches out to the community to raise awareness of veteran benefits and coordinates programs.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Per Minnesota Statute 197.601, candidates must be a resident of Minnesota, a citizen of the United States, and a veteran as defined in Minnesota Statute 197.447. Per Minnesota Statute 197.601, a person accepting appointment to the ACVSO position must agree to receive, within 6 months of the appointment, training and education for the duties of the position, including development of an effective working knowledge of relevant laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, as applicable to veterans cases before the department and the administration of those cases.
