Kuhner shaker is seeking an APPLICATIONS SCIENTIST to join us from your Boston, MA - area home office.

In this role you will work as part of a small team, directly with customers, to deliver results that get noticed. You will enjoy being a key point of customer contact for scientific guidance and technical product knowledge.
In this customer-facing role your focus will be on supporting our East Coast base – sharing and coordinating responsibilities and activities with our West Coast Scientist. Together, you will offer scientific support for our customers including technical product demonstrations, installations, attending conferences, exhibitions and writing sales quotations.
You will have broad responsibility for our representation in the market and we welcome your ideas for how we can do things better. A regular part of this role will include presenting product and application-specific data as PowerPoint seminars, posters or informally to scientist end users in our exhibit booths. Your role in this capacity is to understand the customers’ application, identify their needs and determine whether Kuhner Shaker can offer technology and solutions which address their needs.
As described above - you should be comfortable giving scientific technical presentations and communicating your scientific ideas in both written and verbal formats.
A home base near our Boston, MA area office is preferred - though if you are willing to travel more than 25%, this opportunity could be fulfilled provided you are close to a biotech-rich area with a hub airport and have the experience needed.
Travel to Europe will be once/twice per year for internal and external training or conference support opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Act as science lead to solve customer problems, support sales and expand our customer base.
· Be primary contact for remote and on-site support and technical seminar presentations.
· Attend conferences and exhibitions to present scientific data and participate in our exhibit booths.
· Attend workshops and training symposiums as both a student and a presenter.
· Identify new business opportunities based on new applications of our products.
· Identify and maintain future or existing industrial and academic partnerships.
· Write technical sales quotations (no previous sales experience needed)
· Generate and update scientific literature, presentations, and marketing content.
· Travel up to 25% time for Boston-area candidates - highly dependent on successful candidates current location and proximity to our customers or offices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. MSc / PhD in Cell Biology, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology or a related field with a focus on process sciences.
2. BSc with 4+ years industry experience in a research or bioprocess development setting may be okay - depending on experience and communication abilities.
3. Industrial biological process development (or research materials supply) experience is a must have unless equivalent academic training or experience in an emerging field (CAR) can be demonstrated. Mammalian preferred but microbial / Insect also okay.
4. This is not a medical technologist role, you must have experience cultivating cells in an industrial laboratory setting.
5. Strong demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills – must be comfortable giving power point presentations.
6. Fluency with common software for generation of publications and presentations (Excel, word, PowerPoint).
7. Must be authorized to work in the USA.
8. Must have valid drivers license and passport.
Salary: $110,000 - $160,000+ commensurate with the experience you bring.
