Hiring Salary: $59,956.42 - $71,943.46, depending on qualifications; Full range to $83,930.50. Competitive Leave and Benefits package. 40-hour work week
The Assistant Treasurer performs skilled administrative, technical, and clerical work providing various types of support to the Treasurer/Collector, requiring tact and discretion with a flexible and cooperative approach; performs moderately complex administrative duties; all other related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree in business, accounting, math, or a related field and five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some experience in state or municipal government is preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of financial management and bookkeeping.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing with various audiences including public officials and the general public.
- Proficiency in technology including Google Docs, Google Sheets, accounting/financial software, and online research.
- Customer service skills.
- Skill in Munis accounting and finance software, preferred.
- Knowledge of statutes and regulations related to municipal finance, and legal controls over municipal finance in the Commonwealth, preferred.
Licensing/Certifications: Must be able to qualify for and maintain a surety bond (at Town expense); Certified MA Municipal Collector (CMMC) and Certified MA Municipal Treasurer (CMMT) designation preferred. Please see attached position description.
