POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs a range of technical, administrative, and clerical support to the Chief Operating Officer including various types of composition and managing of confidential information. Responsible for continued operation of office and management of department budget and timekeeping.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares, formats, edits, and produces various department correspondence, emails, documents, and presentations.
- Screens and refers telephone calls and visitors to the office.
- Reviews and distributes incoming mail.
- Creates and maintains filing systems, both electronic and physical.
- Coordinates scheduling and preparation of meetings, engagements, and events.
- Performs timekeeper, management, and financial functions in Lawson/Infor ERP program.
- Assists in preparation of department operating budget and in developing recommendations.
- Interacts with other County departments as well as the Court system and personnel.
- Develops and maintains spreadsheets and databases that include calculations, charts, and/or graphs.
- Attends meetings and assists the public as required.
- Works closely and coordinates with other members of the Commissioners’ staff as part of a team effort to insure efficient and timely production of work.
Performs similar or related duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Significant experience in governmental operations. Extensive intergovernmental relations are highly desirable.
- Self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing work load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from within County government and the general public.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Working knowledge of Lawson/Infor ERP and Adobe Acrobat Professional software.
- Ability to introduce and implement innovative ideas, be highly organized with ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines.
- Must be able to work without direction with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of office equipment.
