Until FilledVACANCY: Valley View Community Unit School District 365U is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services PreK-12 for the 2024-2025 school year.
JOB SUMMARY:Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services PreK-12 is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the continuous improvement of all areas of the Educational Services Department, including curriculum and instruction, student services, instructional technology, vocational education, and bilingual education. Through partnership with all stakeholder groups, the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services sets direction that is consistent with the mission, vision, and core values of the district to support college, career, and life readiness for every learner and ensures that efforts are implemented effectively and lead to a positive impact on learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
  • Direct the administration and coordination of the district's elementary, middle and high school educational programs.
  • Provide leadership in the development of effective educational programs for all students within the core curriculum, as well as within tiered student supports, including tiered supports to support all areas of college, career, and life readiness.
  • In conjunction with the supervisory staff, principals, and teachers, formulate and encourage innovative curricular programs that improve academic and social emotional outcomes.
  • Oversee efforts to monitor operation of instructional programming in all schools for the purpose of evaluating and improving programs, practices and procedures using coaching, collaboration, modeling and other supervisory strategies.
  • Actively lead and participate in efforts to support a high impact workforce through partnership and collaborative efforts to support effective practice and maximize positive impact on students.
  • Oversee planning of professional development designed to meet specific identified needs in schools, programs, or job functions.
  • Lead the district internal review process for school improvement efforts, in conjunction with monitoring the implementation of the District Strategic Plan.
  • Facilitate the preparation and implementation of Every Student Succeeds Act legislation and other Federal and State grants, as assigned.
  • Prepare drafts of needed Board policies and administrative rules for the Superintendent's Senior Leadership team's review and action.
  • Prepare and submit annual budget for Educational Services Department.
  • Show strong support and collaboration working closely with the Executive Directors for Educational Services PreK-5, 6-12, Student Services and Technology.
  • Participate and be involved in the community and collaborate in efforts to engage stakeholders and enhance partnerships with family and community partners.
  • Perform other job related duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

  • Demonstrated ability to promote and facilitate the integration and articulation of student academic experience from pre-school to high school.
  • Thorough understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards, English Language Proficiency Standards and Every Student Succeeds Act.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction with extensive experience in curriculum development and alignment of PK-12 curriculum with standards and assessment.
  • Experience in supporting administrators and staff and using data to drive instruction.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in relation to instruction, systems, and facilitating the use of research-based best practices related to curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • Experience and knowledge in relation to systemic improvement processes and quality criteria.
  • An administrative leadership style based on effective human relations and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Record of effective communication, presentation, and listening skills.
  • Compassion and enthusiasm for effective team leadership to motivate high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and facilitate the integration and articulation of student academic experience from pre-school through high school and secondary transition.
  • Thorough understanding of the Illinois Learning Standards, English Language Proficiency Standards and the Every Student Succeeds Act.

EDUCATION
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university preferred or additional extensive preparation in educational administration and curriculum/instruction, leadership, and continuous improvement.

LICENSES/CREDENTIAL
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with administrative endorsement authorizing services as an Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work year for this position is 12 months. Salary and benefits for this position are based on experience and credentials. Valley View offers excellent fringe benefits, including life, health and dental insurance. Salary FLSA Exempt.
