The Exceptional Education and Learning Department of the School of Education invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Special Education beginning Fall 2024. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Special Education; supervising student teachers and clinical practice in school settings; advising undergraduate and graduate students; and developing collaborative partnerships with local school districts and professional organizations. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service that aligns with the strong social justice mission of the institution. Experience teaching individuals with disabilities and collaborating with families, teachers, related service providers, and administrators is required. Professional responsibilities shall encompass teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, advising and mentoring students, maintaining an active research agenda, grant writing, as well as serving on department, school, and college committees.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Special Education or a related field, or ABD (with Doctorate awarded by August 2024).
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Special Education.
- Experience teaching students with special needs.
- Evidence of an active research agenda.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching a culturally and economically diverse student population.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00
