The Department of German, Russian, Italian, and Arabic at Hamilton invites applications for a one-year visiting position in German Studies at the rank of Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2024. Area of specialization is open. Candidates with an interdisciplinary approach to German Studies that makes connections between literature and other forms of knowledge will be given preference. Demonstrated experience and excellence in language teaching is required. Candidates are expected to contribute to an interdisciplinary curriculum by offering courses that resonate with their area(s) of specialization from novice to advanced German as well as one course in translation that can be cross-listed with another department or program.

 

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching and working with diverse student populations. The cover letter should address how the candidate would further the College’s goal of building a diverse and inclusive educational environment. Candidates must have native or near native fluency in German and English. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates who will have completed the Ph.D. by July 1. The teaching load is five courses per academic year. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $74,400 to $76,900.
