CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION - The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Construction Engineering. We are seeking candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Cost Engineering, Underground Infrastructure, Bridge Design and Construction, Engineering Economics, and Temporary Structure Design. Candidates with diverse research interests in Construction Engineering are encouraged to apply.
The position is available starting the Fall 2024 quarter.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: (a) teaching undergraduate classes and laboratories in civil engineering in general, and Construction Engineering in particular, as well as graduate courses in area of specialization; (b) supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research; (c) developing and maintaining externally-funded research programs; (d) engaging in activities related to service in the form of students club advising, curriculum development, and shared governance.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is expected; the anticipated hiring range is $96,408 - $107,000 per year.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for the position are required to have earned a doctorate degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on Construction Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
A commitment to innovation in undergraduate teaching and working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting is expected.
Demonstrated record of scholarly activities related to Construction Engineering.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.
The ideal candidate will show evidence of attention to and/or the potential to contribute on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion across their teaching, scholarship, and service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of industry experience in Construction Engineering in the United States or comparable international experience.
Proven record of teaching, published research, and ability to attract external funding.
Professional Engineering (P.E) registration, PMP certification, or relevant licensure.
Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities to the role.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department has two separate B.S. degree programs with approximately 650 undergraduate students in the Civil Engineering Program and 200 in the Environmental Engineering Program. Both programs are ABET accredited. The Department's undergraduate programs are consistently rated as among the best in the U.S. for non-Ph.D. granting institutions, and the department proudly supports extremely active and highly regarded student chapters of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Institute of Transportation Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Engineers without Borders. The Department also offers an M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with approximately 50 active graduate students.
