POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Art: Sculpture and Digital Fabrication
COMPENSATION RANGE: 54,000.00 - 56,000.00 USD per year

The School of Art and Design in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Northern Colorado is seeking a Tenure Track Assistant Professor with expertise in Sculpture + Digital Fabrication.
This position requires an understanding of and fluency in inclusive traditional and innovative sculpture, Digital Fabrication, and extended media in both teaching and technology. In addition to teaching an annual 3/3 load of Sculpture and Digital Fabrication and 3D classes at all levels in a BA program, the Sculpture + Digital FabricationAssistant Professor will also run and maintain the disciplinary specific spaces. They are also responsible for, in consultation with faculty and staff, creating increased opportunities for advanced classroom technologies, supervising open lab hours for all School of Art & Design students, and participating in related service and recruiting needs as they arise.

- Fabrication in various materials
Position Responsibilities:
- Teach classes in the Sculpture and Digital Fabrication area, including participation in the supervision of student-directed studies and capstone projects.Teaching in the Foundations area will also be required as needed.
- Coordinate the sculpture + Digital Fabrication area.
- Provide studio/equipment/facility expertise to faculty, students, and staff to increase the utilization of digital materials and methods of advanced classroom technologies and equipment, including but not limited to 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines.
- Responsible for compliance with school and university policies and procedures concerning health and safety.
- Manage the operation and maintenance of the area labs and maintain the studio facilities to be orderly, safe, and operable.
- Work closely with the Studio Lab Coordinator to hire, train, and supervise area student lab assistants and manage the schedule of open lab hours for all School of Art & Design students.
- Purchase, control, and maintain all area equipment and materials inventory.
- Work with other colleges on campus and city and county agencies to create Digital Fabrication opportunities as they align with SoAD mission and vision.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director or Dean to support the goals and mission of the school and college as well as recruitment and retention.
Minimum Qualifications- MFA in Sculpture or other 3D discipline with emphasis in Digital Fabrication.
- One to three years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level, GA acceptable.
- Two years of experience running traditional and Digital sculpture facilities.
- Knowledge of and experience teaching 3D modeling software.
- Demonstrated ability to create and teach contemporary and inclusive culturally sensitive sculptural and extended media curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications:- Demonstrated leadership in the 3D discipline.
- Familiarity with performance practices and studies and installation as a form of expanded practice.
- Successful documentation of working with and teaching students.
- Demonstrated ability to create safety plans for what can be dangerous media and materials in the sculpture studio and curriculum.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills.
